What is the MLS App?

The MLS App is the official app of Major League Soccer. The MLS App features live scores and stats, video highlights, customized alerts, and breaking news, and allows you to view live out-of-market MLS matches (MLS LIVE subscription required; blackouts and other restrictions apply) and see match highlights.

How to purchase MLS LIVE?

MLS LIVE is available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada. U.S. and Canadian customers can purchase an MLS LIVE subscription here. On this page, you will see available subscription options. Select the subscription option that you desire to purchase and follow the steps to complete your payment. After your subscription purchase has been completed and you receive a confirmation email, you will be able to sign into your MLS LIVE account in the MLS mobile app.

International Customers

MLS LIVE is available for purchase in the United States and Canada. MLS LIVE is not available to fans living or traveling outside of North America.

Watching MLS LIVE within the MLS App

MLS Live and Archived Matches

MLS LIVE subscribers can watch LIVE out-of-market matches for all 22 clubs around the league. Blackouts and other restrictions apply to MLS LIVE, see the Blackout Policies page for more information. To access MLS LIVE content in the MLS App, tap on the "Menu" icon at the top left of the app and tap on the MLS LIVE menu option. If you do not already have an MLS LIVE subscription linked to your account, you will be prompted to sign in or purchase on the web here. A single MLS LIVE account can be accessed from one mobile device and one desktop concurrently. Attempts to access the same MLS LIVE account on additional devices will be prevented. If you share your account information with other people, your account may be prevented from accessing MLS. If you are worried that others are accessing your account, you should change your password under your account profile on your desktop. In rare cases, customers forget to log out of their accounts on one computer and try to log in on a separate device. Since sharing a single username and password is strictly prohibited and does not work, you will get an error message. If you receive such a message, please contact Customer Service.

Settings

MLS App "Settings" can be accessed by tapping on the "Menu" icon at top left and then "Settings" in the menu that appears.

My Account

To sign into your MLS LIVE account, tap the Menu button at top left, and select the MLS LIVE option. Enter your MLS LIVE account credentials and you will be signed in.

Other Settings Options

In the MLS App settings menu, there are also options to Hide Scores and to Use Local Time Zone. Toggle the Hide Scores option to either show or hide scores and spoilers from live and archived matches. Toggle the Use Local Time Zone option to display match start times in your current time zone.

Viewing with Chromecast

Viewing with Chromecast

The MLS App supports the ability to cast highlights and other video on demand content as well as archived MLS content to a Chromecast device based on your subscription to MLS LIVE.

Cast Requirements: Both your mobile device and the Chromecast device MUST be connected to the same WiFi network to utilize this feature. Please ensure that you have the latest version of the MLS App and your mobile operating system as well as the latest Chromecast firmware or you may be unable to utilize the feature. If you are experiencing difficulty with Chromecast setup or connectivity, please navigate to https://support.google.com/chromecast for support information or contact Google directly. While the MLS App will be updated automatically for most devices, you may need to manually apply the updates from the device app store. If your Chromecast has not updated to the latest firmware, please leave your Chromecast powered on overnight. The firmware build will be pushed and the device will reboot itself when it has the new firmware.

Casting from the MLS App to a Chromecast device can be controlled by tapping on the Chromecast icon at the top of the MLS App or while viewing a feed.

Getting Started (iOS)

To access your MLS LIVE subscription on your iOS device, please begin by downloading the MLS App from the iTunes App Store. To find the MLS App, search for "MLS" or "Major League Soccer" in the App Store. Press the button to download the App on your device, and allow the MLS App to install. After the MLS App has been installed, open the app and follow the on-screen instructions. Upon opening the MLS App for the first time, you will be presented with the option to choose Favorite teams. Select your favorite teams for customized alerts and content, or skip this step to launch the MLS App’s main menu. If you wish to change, add or remove your favorite teams at another time, you can always do so from the settings menu in the MLS App or on the web in your MLS LIVE account profile.

If you have already purchased an MLS LIVE subscription and wish to link your Apple device, tap the Menu icon at the top left of the page in the MLS App, and select the MLS LIVE menu option. Press "sign in," and if prompted, please make sure that you enable location services or turn your device’s location on. Enter your MLS LIVE account credentials and you will be all set to watch Live MLS action.

Choosing a Level of Access

The MLS App is a free download from the Apple iTunes Store and has two levels of access, offering free and optional paid subscription features.

When you launch the MLS App and are not logged in with an MLS LIVE account, you will be presented with the options below which will help you decide the level of access you want while using the MLS App.

  • Purchase
    • Users who wish to purchase a new subscription to MLS LIVE from within the MLS App can choose an option. Users can also purchase a subscription on the web from here.
  • MLS LIVE and Current Subscribers
    • If you have already purchased MLS LIVE within the MLS App or on another platform and have already connected your previously purchased MLS LIVE subscription product to your MLS LIVE account, select this option to enable paid subscription features on your supported device(s) by entering your MLS LIVE credentials when prompted.
  • Already Purchased? Restore
    • If you have already purchased MLS LIVE via Apple iTunes within the MLS App, select this option to enable paid subscription features on your supported device(s) by entering your Apple iTunes credentials when prompted to "Restore" your subscription. If you want to access MLS LIVE content, you will be prompted with an option to purchase a paid subscription from Apple iTunes when you try to access the applicable content.

Canceling Your Subscription

Subscribers who have purchased an MLS LIVE paid subscription product directly from the MLS LIVE page and not through an app store may cancel their subscription or cancel auto-renewal of their subscription in their MLS LIVE account profile. Subscribers can also cancel their subscription by contacting Customer Service by calling 1-800-729-9990. Your cancellation will be effective at the end of your current billing period.

Apple iTunes In-App Purchase and Cancellation Information

If you have purchased a subscription to MLS LIVE directly through the MLS App from the Apple iTunes App Store, please review the information in this section. MLS LIVE does not have access to Apple iTunes accounts or transactions. If you wish to confirm the type of subscription that has been purchased from Apple iTunes, please consult your Apple iTunes account or receipt as each subscription will have a unique billing name. Apple iTunes cancellation steps are listed below as a courtesy for your convenience. Please visit the Apple iTunes store for the most current information.

Purchasing an Apple iTunes Subscription

In-app purchases are purchased from and billed by Apple iTunes, not MLS LIVE. These purchases are subject to the terms and conditions of Apple iTunes. All billing and refund inquiries must be directed to Apple iTunes.

MLS LIVE is currently available on a monthly basis (billed as "MLS LIVE Monthly") from the Apple iTunes Store. Your subscription to MLS LIVE is valid for 30 days, from the date of purchase and will be re-billed automatically by Apple iTunes every 30 days throughout the current MLS season through and including October and annually on or about February 1st each year at the then-current MLS season's regular full monthly price, unless you cancel your Service prior to the beginning of the next applicable billing (and renewal) period. Apple iTunes subscriptions can be managed from a mobile device or personal computer that uses the same Apple ID as the initial purchase. You can also purchase an MLS LIVE subscription as an in-app purchase from the MLS App.

Troubleshooting (iOS)

Step 1. Please ensure that your device is running the latest supported operating system and the most current version of the app.

Step 2. If your device is running the latest supported operating systems (iOS 9.3 and up) and you are experiencing issues with the MLS App, please follow the additional steps below as applicable.

  1. Navigate to your Apple device home screen.
  2. Double tap on the home button to open the application tray.
  3. Swipe up on all of the open applications to close them out.
  4. Tap the home button or on the screen to close the application tray.
  5. Press and hold the power button at the top of the device and the physical home button simultaneously; continue holding these buttons until the screen goes black and then an Apple logo appears.
  6. The device may take a few minutes to return to the Apple device home screen.
  7. Once the device returns to the home screen, please try launching the application again.

If you still experience issues after following the above steps, please switch your connectivity from cellular to WiFi or WiFi to cellular. While WiFi connections are typically an improvement over cellular, that is not always the case. Please understand that "bar" indicators on devices indicate the strength of a signal, but not network congestion or integrity, which can impact application performance. For personal WiFi connections, we recommend restarting your modem and router in the event a network conflict is occurring even if other devices are working properly.

Common Questions (iOS)

I previously purchased an MLS LIVE subscription outside of the Apple iTunes App Store. How do I access my paid subscription features on my Apple iOS mobile device?

MLS LIVE customers with a subscription linked to a MLS LIVE account should download the MLS App from the iTunes App Store (free download), tap on the menu button at top left, and then tap on the MLS LIVE option button where you can enter your MLS LIVE credentials to unlock MLS LIVE subscription features. If you are not already an MLS LIVE customer and want to access MLS live and archived content from within the MLS App, you will need to purchase a separate MLS LIVE subscription on the web or on iOS as an in-app purchase.

Can I access my MLS LIVE or iTunes App Store subscription purchase on other supported devices?

If you have purchased a subscription via an in-app purchase, you can navigate to the MLS App "Settings" section, select "MLS LIVE" and then "Create Account" to enter an e-mail address and password. That account will be linked to your in-app purchase and that e-mail and password can be used to access your MLS LIVE subscription on other platforms.

I am experiencing issues with one or more of the following: In-App Purchase/Notifications.

If you are experiencing issues with these functions, please ensure that your network connection is adequate and that your devices are connected to the same local WiFi network.

Why can't I access any live match video?

In order to access live match video features in MLS LIVE or from within the MLS App, you need to have your location settings on and be accessing the MLS App on a device that supports video streaming. In addition, your access to live match video is subject to blackout restrictions.

Why do I receive a blackout message?

MLS LIVE is subject to local and national blackouts based on the location of the device on which you are using the MLS App. See the Blackouts link above for additional information.

I am unable to watch a live match that I believe I should have access to.

Why is the video not loading?

Please check to make sure your signal strength is full and has at least 3G coverage. If available, try connecting your device to WiFi. If your mobile device's signal strength is full and the video is still not loading, please try closing and reopening the application. If you are using a public or similar (e.g., hotel, restaurant) WiFi site, make sure that you open a browser and accept their terms and conditions if applicable so that you are connected to the Internet.

Why are my videos taking so long to start?

This is most likely due to low Internet bandwidth. Make sure you have an Internet connection that can support video streaming. It is recommended to use WiFi for best results.

Supported Devices (Android)

The MLS App requires a minimum of Android OS version 4.4 and will run on phones and tablets. Compatibility with live and archived MLS LIVE content will vary by device due to the number of Android hardware/OS combinations available on the market.

Purchasing an MLS LIVE Subscription on Android

Accessing Your MLS LIVE Subscription on Other Supported Devices

Subscribers who have already purchased MLS LIVE on the MLS LIVE page, or on any other supported platform and linked their purchase to a MLS LIVE account, can sign into their account from the "Settings" menu to enable MLS LIVE paid subscription features on their supported Android mobile device.
